The Benefit of Benevolence

The Benefit of Benevolence

Daily Success Motivation and Inspiration

Phew! My schedule over the past 10 days or so has been unusually busy. But I'm still on fire! I haven't posted much within the past few days so I'm glad to be back at keyboard. I was reflecting today on the power of benevolence. My wife and I were presented with a fantastic opportunity to help another family in a very significant way that was also a sacrifice for us. We were so moved to offer our time and resources and we were beside ourselves with joy because of how this family was significantly impacted by our support. We were really able to make a lasting impact and it was a true blessing for us to be able to do so. Well, a chain of emotions ensued as both families came together to celebrate in the spirit of benevolence.

We had not known this family for too long but after coming together with them we felt like we had known them for an awesome period of time. I've spent some time today just thinking about the joy experienced by this family. But the real joy was ours and we were the real benefactors. Sometimes life gets so busy that we either don't have the time or we don't take the time to give and serve others in much greater capacities. It's easy to give when the giving isn't sacrificial. There are times however when we are called to put the brakes on all of our own issues and tend to the issues of others.

My family and I had our hearts enlarged and our capacity to serve others expanded as we took the time to think about the needs of this other family and go beyond the call of duty to see that they were fully supported. It's was such a refreshing experience for us and it reminded us of our duty to do good and to seek out needs that we have the ability to meet.

The Benefit of Benevolence
I want you to think about ways in which you can demonstrate benevolence without any immediate return on your efforts. The best kind of giving is that which is freely distributed without strings or expectations attached. Life is more rewarding when you give out of love and compassion only. You think that the target of your good deeds is the benefactor when in actuality you are. When we give we touch that part of greatness in us that seeks to improve the quality of life for our fellow man. The laws of sowing and reaping will see to it that you are faithfully rewarded for your giving so why not give?

The benefit of benevolence is a heightened awareness of those less fortunate around us and of our capacity to access the best parts of who we are and then sharing that with others. This is a powerful way to change your life and chart a course to change the world. So often people struggle with seeing the good in themselves when all they need to do is open themselves up the the needs of others and lose the focus on their own needs.

The need for love is filled by loving. The need for friendship is filled by first being a friend. The need for peace is filled by being peaceful. What am I saying here? I'm saying that in order to receive you should give. Return is natural and spiritual law of life and success. The more you give, then the more you will receive. But it's the transformation of self in the process of service that is of greatest benefit. We all want to transform into something bigger and better. Releasing what you have on behalf of others is a great way to spark transformation. You unleash your greatest self and you set yourself up for huge returns.

Giving Unto Greatness
Can you remember how you felt when you gave something of yourself? Your time? Your talent? Your treasure? Can you recall the powerful emotions of joy and peace and blessing associated with doing something that you know really, really made a difference in the life of another? Have you considered that you can access those emotions at anytime by seeking to serve at all times? You will in effect create a history of service that is undeniable and you will have anchored your spirit, mind and emotions to a series of passionately positive experiences that reveal your greatness!

Take some time to think about you benefit from your acts of benevolence towards others. When was the last time you really served someone? When was the last time you put yourself last to meet the need of another in a significant way? Benevolence unlocks the good in us and makes the world a better and brighter place to live.

Hi Thomas,

Great Work here Thomas! I pop over here frequently to learn from the Master. What you have written here really brings home the true meaning and benefits of giving. So true, every time we give of ourselves in any way, we are the ones who get the most in return. Your words here have explained two key strategies for happiness, The Joy and Power of Giving, and The Powerful and Immediate Benefits of Keeping Your Eyes Off of Yourself. The Mind can only hold one thought at a time so why not make it one that helps others as well as ourselves? The world is a better place for you doing what you do. Kudos to you!
